Port Gruissan and Gruissan Plage

Above shows a picture of the rather surreal chalets that were originally constructed at the turn of the century at Gruissan Plage
They were holiday homes that were built on stilts, high enough to accomodate the tides.
As far as I know, the sea doesn't come in as far these days.
They have, however, become a famous place to visit due to the cult film, Betty Blue (37 au matin) where the two main characters spent the opening scenes in one of the houses. (In various states of undress!) |
